Gafsa in brief

The Governorate of Gafsa is located in the southwest of Tunisia, between the high steppes and the Sahara. Surrounded by five governorates and located at the center of three economic regions, the city of Gafsa is a link between the land of grain and that of dates and is one of the oldest cities in the country. Known as an essentially mining region, phosphate is the region's main source of wealth.
